About Aaron Meyer and His Music:
Concert Rock Violinist Aaron Meyer has performed for world leaders and dignitaries as well as held solo appearances with major orchestras and ballet companies throughout the world. He has composed music for, and/or shared the stage with major artists, including rock band Everclear, Smokey Robinson, Aaron Neville, Pink Martini, Leftover Salmon, The Temptations, and 2002 Miss America - Katie Harman.
Debuting as a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra at age 11, Aaron began studying the violin when he was five years old with his father, Julian Meyer. Studies continued with Luis Biava - associate conductor with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and also at Indiana University with Yuval Yaron - a student of Jascha Heifetz. Upon graduating from College in 1995, Aaron embarked on a year of edifying travel throughout the remote regions of Asia, which aided in enhancing his musical creativity.
In 2002 Aaron was selected to compose string parts and record for Everclear's Slowmotion Daydream album. Aaron has performed on numerous albums including Pink Martini's Sympathique. His credits include scores for Microsoft commercials, a nationally televised PBS Frontline special, The Execution, and the soundtrack for a PBS Holocaust documentary and educational piece, Two Men One Message. In Jan and May of 1999, Aaron performed songs from his project, Seasons of Peace, at two World Peace Conferences, held at the United Nations in New York and in The Hague, Holland. Aaron has performed for numerous prestigeous sporting events including the NBA Western Conference Finals. Aaron's arrangement of "O' Come All Ye Faithful" was featured on the Christmas In The Northwest ..7 benefit CD compilation in the Winter of 2004. Aaron was commissioned by Oregon Public Broadcasting and Lewis & Clark College to create the original soundtrack for, "The Unfinished Journey: The Lewis and Clark Expedition", a 13-part public radio series that commemorates the bicentennial of the Corps of Discovery. The Compass, Meyer's latest CD release is the original soundtrack for the OPB radio series, and has gained considerable national airplay on NPR.
Aaron's first solo CD, "Near The Edge", features Aaron's original music that fuses classical and rock styles of music. This CD was released through six live solo performances after the Oregon Ballet Theatre commissioned Aaron to compose original music for their production Dance Near The Edge at the Keller Auditorium in Portland. On May 15, 2001, Aaron premiered a newly commissioned work for the Portland visit of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama at Memorial Coliseum. In Dec 2001, Aaron released his second CD, "A Winter's Dance", in conjunction with his annual holiday concert production.
Aaron's largest and most expansive show premiered in 2002. An eight-show production held at Portland's Adrianna Hill Grand Ballroom featured Aaron's six-piece band as he released the CD, "Iniziare". This recording clearly defines Aaron's unique style of high-energy Classical Crossover, which bridges classical with rock, world, and pop styles of original music. In 2003, "The Fourth Season", consisting of holiday music from the Winter season was released. Aaron continues the tradition of the annual holiday concert, which has grown to a 3-show production! For the past several seasons, Aaron has opened his holiday show with guest celebrtiy Fijiian singer/songwriter Jale Mareau, keeping with the theme of: Holiday Music from around the World.
The innovative original music that Aaron creates is cutting edge, fresh and invigorating music that audiences of all ages genuinely connect with. Aaron performs his music with tremendous virtuosity and passion!
Aaron is a masterful performer as well as educator! Aaron's innovative Classroom Music Project (CMP), an extensive artist-in-residence program cross-disciplining academic curriculum, music composition, cutting-edge recording technology, production, and performance, allows Aaron to work with students of all ages. Each year, Aaron visits dozens of schools all over the Pacific Northwest, presenting assembly style educational music programs, workshops and assisting in creating CDs of student-written songs. He also works with youth orchestras and conducts his own annual, music education summer camp! Aaron produced and markets a CD entitled "Practice Classical Violin and Play Like A Rock Star". This educational tool works in conjunction with Suzuki Books 1 & 2 for Violin, and inspires young students to have some fun when they practice!
Aaron travels regularly performing annually in Southeast Asia, Mexico, and The South Pacific. Aaron always enjoys learning about traditional and local music where ever he goes. Aaron resides in Portland, Oregon with his wife Renee, son Parker and their 2 dogs Bootsie and Paki.
